Update - Campus Telephone System Back Up as of 7:15 AM Saturday, November 7, 2009

The Cornell campus phone system is back on line as of 7:15 AM. An uninterruptible power supply(UPS)that serves the phone system did not operate properly when power failed this morning. This caused the main telephone switch to go down.

CIT crews have installed a replacement UPS. All systems are now back on-line.

Researchers and those responsible for equipment within buildings may wish to check their systems.

Please report any problems or concerns to the Facilities Customer Service Center at 255-5322.

This is the last planned update.

=============================

The Cornell campus phone system remains down after a power outage that occurred at about 3:10 AM Saturday morning, November 7, 2009.

The loss of power was caused by a tripped line protection relay on the main campus electric feed. Crews were able to switch to a backup feed and restore power at about 4:45 AM.

CIT crews are on site working to restore the telephone system.

If you have an emergency, please use a non-campus phone, e.g. cell phone, to call 911. The Tompkins County 911 center will contact Cornell Police.

Please check http://www.cornell.edu/cuinfo/specialconditions/ for further updates. Another update will be posted at about 8:00 AM.
